Burj Dubai

One of many breathtaking architectural projects that can be made only in Dubai is also the Burj Dubai that is currently still under construction. Although it is not yet completed Burj Dubai is already the tallest building ever built.

The construction works of the tallest building in the world started in September 2004. The architect of Burj Dubai is Adrian Smith who is one of the most recognized architects in the world. The main construction works are being carried out by Samsung Engineering & Construction, Besix and Arabtec, while the Emaar Properties chosen the Turner Construction Company as construction manager. Burj Dubai is a part of the "Downtown Burj Dubai", a project that has a budget of US$20 billion, while the costs of Burj Dubai are US$4,1 billion.

Burj Dubai reached its final height - 818 meters (2,684 feet) on January 17, 2009 and was announced to be ready for occupancy by September 2009. The tallest building ever build (Burj Dubai surpassed the Warsaw Radio Mast in Konstantynow, Poland in June 2008) will house exclusive corporate suite offices, residential suites, luxurious restaurants and swimming pools, observation platform, library, a cigar club, exclusive resident's lounge and a large fitness. Burj Dubai will also house the Armani Hotel covering an area over 40,000 square meters (430,556 square feet).

Burj Dubai is not yet completed and all records are unofficial at the moment. Since Emaar Properties' competition - Nakheel Properties plans to built even taller skyscraper the steel frame structure that tops the Burj Dubai may be extended if necessary to defend the title of the tallest building in the world.
